If you’ve been curious about freehand machine embroidery and would love some guidance to get started, this workshop is for you.

Our Freehand Machine Embroidery Workshop is a relaxed and inspiring introduction to this wonderfully creative technique. Using your sewing machine as a drawing tool, you’ll learn how to “sketch” with stitch and explore a new way of working with fabric and thread.
Led by Charlotte, the maker behind Lottas House, known for her beautifully crafted textile decorations, this workshop is guided by someone with a real depth of experience and a genuine passion for her craft. Charlotte will share her knowledge in a calm and encouraging way, helping you feel comfortable and confident as you learn.
You’ll begin with guided practice exercises, experimenting on a variety of fabrics while learning how to create smooth, controlled lines. With Charlotte’s support, you’ll learn how to use the free-motion embroidery foot on the sewing machines and focus on writing, including joined-up lettering and simple capital letters, building skills at a pace that suits you.
You’ll then put your new skills into practice by creating your own freehand machine embroidered bird decoration — a charming piece to take home and treasure (with any final touches completed at home if needed).
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid introduction to free-motion embroidery and the confidence to continue exploring this creative technique.

• Use of Janome sewing machines
• All materials provided
• Small group (5–6 people) for plenty of individual support
• Suitable for beginners with basic sewing machine confidence

Tea, coffee and biscuits/cake are provided.
What to bring :
• Sewing kit (if you have one). Don’t worry if not, as we have kit you can use!

Please arrive 10 minutes early. Pre-booking is essential as places are limited.
Terms and conditions :
Please note that by reserving a place on a Sewing Studio class/workshop, you will be agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
- Places on classes are reserved once payment has been made
- Payment is required in full at the time of booking
- The Fabric Boutique gift cards are redeemable, with payment in part or full for classes
- Bookings will be subject to the cancellation policy
- Classes will only run if there are sufficient numbers. A minimum of 3 places must be booked in order for the class to take place
- Classes are for individuals aged 18 and over
Cancellation and Refund Policy
- Should unforeseen circumstances arise or if minimum numbers of three have not been reached, The Fabric Boutique may need to cancel the class. In such circumstances, a full refund will be given
Should you require to cancel for any reason the following applies;
- If you cancel up to 14 days before the date of the class, a full refund will be given. Alternatively, you may wish to transfer payment to another date (subject to availability)
- Unfortunately, if you cancel with less than 14 days before the date of the class, a refund will not be given
- Should a refund be eligible, it will be issued immediately. Please allow up to a week for the money to appear back in your bank account
