Description
This lilac stripe cotton–TENCEL™ blend is an absolutely glorious fabric. The colour is far more beautiful in real life than the photos can capture - a soft yet striking lilac that really stands out.
This is a deadstock fabric with a lovely, familiar feel, very much like a classic Oxford shirting cotton. It sits around a cotton poplin weight: not light and floaty, but not heavy or stiff either. While it doesn’t have a lot of drape, it isn’t rigid - instead, it holds its shape beautifully, making it ideal for garments that benefit from a little structure.
Blended with TENCEL™, a fibre made from sustainably sourced wood pulp, this fabric has a subtle softness and smoothness that adds comfort and breathability. TENCEL™ is known for being kind to the skin, moisture-absorbent and cooler to wear, making it a lovely addition to the cotton base.
Perfect for sewing shirts and blouses - especially crisp collars and cuffs - this fabric also works beautifully for dresses, skirts and trousers. In warmer months, it would be ideal for shorts, dungarees or pinafore-style dresses, as the weight gives just the right amount of body without feeling heavy.
A versatile, wearable fabric with a beautiful finish and plenty of sewing potential.
