Description
This beautiful mélange knit fabric is a wonderfully soft and cosy choice for dressmaking and works particularly well for jumpers, cardigans, tops, jumper dresses and other comfortable layers. It feels incredibly gentle against the skin, with a lovely snuggly, almost luxurious feel that makes it a pleasure to wear.
At 300g/m², it has a lovely weight and substance without feeling overly heavy or bulky, together with a soft drape. Although it contains no elastane, the knitted construction naturally gives the fabric a little stretch and give, making it comfortable to wear and ideal for garments where you want ease of movement.
“Mélange” comes from the French word for mixture and refers to yarns made by blending fibres of different colours before they are knitted. This creates the softly flecked, slightly heathered appearance that gives the fabric its lovely depth and character.
The manufacturer notes that, like many soft knitted fabrics, it can be slightly prone to pilling over time, so gentle care will help keep your finished garments looking their best.

Care: Wash at 30°C. Do not bleach. Cool iron. To help keep your garment looking its best, we recommend air drying and avoiding the tumble dryer, as excessive heat and friction may encourage shrinkage and pilling.
