Description
A yarn-dyed Oxford cotton from Paul Smith deadstock, featuring a small-scale check measuring approximately 13mm square. Woven from dark navy and light grey yarns, the colours blend together beautifully to create a softly tonal appearance from a distance.
Oxford cloth is created using a basket weave construction, giving it a little more texture and substance than a traditional poplin shirting. Durable, breathable and comfortable to wear, Oxford cloth is a versatile year-round fabric, feeling cool in warmer weather while offering a little extra warmth when temperatures drop.
This particular Oxford has an exceptionally soft handle with a very subtle brushed finish. While it is described as brushed, the surface isn’t noticeably fluffy; instead, it simply has a gentle texture that adds to its softness and character.
Originally intended for premium shirtmaking, this fabric will sew into beautiful shirts, shirt dresses and casual overshirts. Its versatile weight also makes it an excellent choice for tops, skirts, dresses and relaxed trousers, including barrel-leg and wide-leg styles.
