A wonderful Paul Smith designer deadstock fabric with a beautifully retro feel, this lightweight stretch denim is quite unlike many denims you may have come across before. Although it has the characteristic twill weave of a denim, it feels remarkably soft and smooth, with a comfortable stretch and an easy drape that makes it a delight to wear.
Woven from 75% cotton, 21% polyamide and 4% elastane, the fabric is lightweight rather than heavy, making it ideal for garments that you will reach for throughout the warmer months and beyond. The stretch runs parallel to the selvedge, giving the fabric wonderful comfort and wearability. Although the fabric is unmistakably a denim in its weave and construction, the way it feels and behaves is much more reminiscent of a bengaline, combining the comfort and softness of the latter with the distinctive appearance of a denim.
The print is unmistakably Paul Smith. A striking geometric design in raspberry pink sits against a beautiful grass green background, creating a bold yet wearable retro look that feels both vintage-inspired and wonderfully contemporary.
What really makes this fabric special is its versatility. It has enough body to hold a little shape, yet it is soft enough to gather beautifully, making it ideal for styles that require fullness, ruffles or soft volume.
Imagine a pair of perfectly fitted cigarette trousers or Capri pants worn with a loose linen shirt on a summer’s day, or elegant wide-leg trousers teamed with a simple camisole.
