Description
This is one of those fabrics that’s far lovelier in real life than it ever wants to be on camera — but I’ve done my very best to capture the beautiful depth of colour and detail. The background is a mid blue, almost a French navy, scattered with the tiniest nautical flags and pennants, giving it a subtle, playful maritime feel.
It’s a deadstock seersucker cotton from a high-end American designer, well known for weaving nautical references into his collections. If you look closely, you’ll even spot his initials worked into the print — a lovely little detail that makes this fabric feel extra special.
The gentle seersucker crinkle gives the fabric a lovely texture and also means that it sits slightly away from the body, making it breathable and comfortable to wear. The handle is soft and really good quality, but with a weight similar to a poplin, so it still holds its shape beautifully. That makes it ideal for shirts, shirt dresses, tops, skirts and shorts, and especially good for designs with a bit of structure — think softly puffed sleeves — while still pressing crisply for collars, cuffs and plackets.
