Description
This is such a gorgeous print – a deadstock fabric from a very well-known Spanish high street fashion brand, known for having its finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to colour, print and current trends.
The design has a wonderful painterly quality, with sweeping paisleys, florals and decorative motifs that have a beautiful Indian-inspired textile feel, reminiscent of traditional hand-painted and block-printed designs. The warm cream background is filled with burnt oranges, terracotta and russet reds, alongside rich wine and berry tones, dusty pinks and touches of deep charcoal.
The fabric itself is lightweight with plenty of drape, fluidity and movement. It has a slightly open, visible weave with a subtle slub running through it, giving it an almost muslin-like texture and a lovely natural appearance reminiscent of linen. Despite that textured look, it remains beautifully soft and fluid and falls really nicely.
This would make some fabulous floaty dresses, tiered dresses and skirts, blouses and tops, wide-leg trousers, co-ords and jumpsuits – particularly styles that will really make the most of all that movement.
It’s a lovely fabric for Spring and Summer, when its lightweight feel will work beautifully for loose, flowing garments teamed with sandals. But I certainly wouldn’t pack it away once Summer is over. Those gorgeous russet, berry and wine tones lend themselves perfectly to Autumn and Winter too – imagine a floaty dress or skirt worn with tights, boots and chunky knitwear.
