Description
Come and spend a lovely few hours with us making your very own fabric pumpkin.Â
Fabric pumpkins make such a lovely addition to your home through the Autumn months, bringing a little warmth and cosiness to your seasonal décor. Pop yours on a coffee table, style it as part of an Autumn display or use it to dress your dining table for Harvest and Halloween – and, being handmade, it’s something you can bring out and enjoy Autumn after Autumn.
This is a relaxed, fun workshop with plenty of help and guidance along the way from Alice. You’ll work through the different stages of making your pumpkin, from sewing the individual fabric sections together to stuffing, shaping and adding the finishing touches.
Your complete pumpkin kit is included in the workshop price (normally £16.95) and contains everything you need to make your pumpkin, including carefully selected coordinating fabrics, toy stuffing, thread and your printed pumpkin pattern to take home with you.
Skill Level: Beginner Friendly
Over 18s only
Choose Your Pumpkin Kit
You can choose from two beautiful fabric combinations:
Tilda Wallflower – a pretty collection of florals in warm Autumnal shades.
Andover Nightfall – rich, cosy Autumn colours inspired by the changing season.
When booking, simply pop your preferred kit – Tilda Wallflower or Andover Nightfall – into the Special Instructions box at checkout.
If you don’t specify a preference when ordering, your kit will be allocated from the designs available on the day and will be subject to availability.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll hopefully have your own finished fabric pumpkin to take home, along with your pattern so you can make more at home.
Skill Level
This is a beginner-friendly workshop and you don’t need lots of sewing experience. You will, however, need to be able to thread up and use a sewing machine.
If you can do those basics, you’ll be absolutely fine, and there will be plenty of help and guidance throughout the workshop.
Please note that this workshop isn’t suitable for complete beginners who have never used a sewing machine before.
Finishing Your Pumpkin
We have allowed three hours for this workshop, and we expect most people will be able to complete their pumpkin within this time. However, everyone sews at a different pace, so this can depend on your individual experience and sewing speed.
If you don’t quite finish your pumpkin during the workshop, please don’t worry. We’ll make sure you leave knowing exactly how to complete it at home, and your kit includes your own copy of our full pumpkin pattern with clear, easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions to guide you through the remaining stages.
What You’ll Need
Everything you need to make your pumpkin is included in your kit, and you’ll have use of one of our Janome 5060QDC sewing machines in the studio.
If you have your own usual sewing kit, you’re very welcome to bring it along, but please don’t worry if you don’t have one yet – we have equipment available in the studio for you to use if needed.
Refreshments & Shopping
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the workshop.
Workshop attendees also receive 10% off purchases over £25 in the shop on the day.
Location, Facilities & Parking
The Fabric Boutique
Rushton’s Yard
Ashby-de-la-Zouch
Leicestershire
Our workshop studio is located upstairs from the shop and is accessed via a flight of stairs. Please bear this in mind when booking if you have any mobility requirements.
There is a toilet and sink available in the studio for your convenience.
Parking
Rushton’s Yard Car Park is immediately adjacent to the shop and operates a pay-on-exit system. Please be aware that this car park has a maximum stay of three hours and the time limit is strictly enforced, so we would not recommend relying on it for the full duration of the workshop.
For longer-stay parking, South Street Car Park is just a short walk from the shop and is a better option when attending one of our workshops.
Please allow yourself enough time to park and make your way to the shop before the workshop begins.
Important Booking Information
Places are limited to a maximum of six people, keeping the workshop small and relaxed with plenty of help and guidance available throughout.
Your place must be booked and paid for in full through our website. A place is not secured until payment has been received.
We require a minimum of three people for this workshop to run. In the unlikely event that minimum numbers aren’t reached, we’ll contact you to arrange a transfer to another suitable workshop or a full refund.
Cancellations & Transfers
If you need to cancel your place, please give us at least 14 days’ notice. With 14 days’ notice or more, we can offer you a full refund or transfer your booking to another suitable workshop.
Unfortunately, cancellations made with less than 14 days’ notice are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another workshop.
Please make sure you’re able to attend the date and time before booking.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you for a lovely Autumn morning of sewing and creating at The Fabric Boutique.
