A delightful fabric that has the appearance of linen.

Ramie is a strong and durable fabric that is derived from a nettle plant, known as Boehmeria nivea.  Native to Asia, the yarns from this plant have been used for over 6,000 years. As it is a natural derivative, Ramie fabric is biodegradable, sustainable and regenerative.

As a fabric, Ramie has the appearance of linen. You will see a gentle slub.  Like linen, it holds structure and some shape.
This particular Ramie is a midweight, making it perfect for dresses, trousers, skirts, shirts, jackets etc. Due to the weight, it has very little drape, so not recommended for floaty, lightweight or delicate makes. It isn’t opaque. There is a lovely texture to this fabric.

Comfortable to wear – it’s highly absorbent, quick drying and breathable. There is a softness to it from the blended cotton.
